Larry and his Flask - Bend OR May 24, 2018

May 10, 2018  •  Leave a Comment

There is so much going on in Oregon... AND I am not talking about Portland.  Southern and Central Oregon

is starting to get some recognition and booking more bands.  This is exciting for me as a music photographer.

Why drive 5 hours to see some great bands? Really you don’t have to. How about 2 hours or less on the road

to check out some great music. I say not to shabby.

Early this year I was blown away by a band that is based right in the hart of Oregon.  Bend is becoming home

to many amazing shows and these guys are deep in the hart of what is booming. I have always enjoyed going

to the Oregon Winterfest in Bend and looked up their music line up for the event. I saw this band, looked

intriguing and so I did a little research. I have never heard of them and noticed that they have been going on

tour all over the world. Are on the line up for LasVegas Punk Rock Bowling & Music Festival this May and

many more.  I Youtub'd their music and fell. It is not my usual genre but, I am a bit out of the ordinary. SO I

got my photo pass and hit the show.

I was captivated by the energy and sound.  As I would describe it is punk/ska/jazz/blues... As I have seen them

explain their sound as a Folk Circus. OK, it kind of works. Their energy is fantastic, crazy excitement that is

on stage and shared with their fans. They have a melodic upbeat jazzy kind of punk sound that makes you

want to hop. Who I am talking about has been together for 14 years and have been touring all over the world.

Larry and his Flask! Watching them on a cold February night really warms you.

I hope that I can convince you all to check them out in Bend on their only show this spring and summer at the

Volcanic Theater and Pub on May 24, 2018.

“Larry and His Flask are a five piece, high energy Rock and Roll band that incorporate elements of Punk, Gypsy

Jazz, Folk and Americana music. Some people refer to them as “Folk Punk” or “Punk/Grass”, but regardless of

genre classification they strive to bring the party to every crowd. Their goal is to get everyone stomping, clapping,

dancing, smiling and having a damn good time!” (www.larryandhisflask.com)
